Laughing Glass v.06
The Laughing Glass v.06 feels more like a proof of concept than a full game. I start with the mechanics, getting our playable character Tillie to run, jump, hover, toss a pie, swing, and bounce off enemies and certain items. Two enemy types, plus a simple boss fight. Bring laughter back to the citizens with a pie to the face.
Future Plans
Tillie. The next steps for Tillie are adding two more moves. She will be able to grab the edge of a platform and climb up, kicking an enemy that is standing up there. And she will be able to duck and roll around like a ball, dodging projectiles and rolling through small entrances.
Level Design. The current playable level is very simple for now. I plan to redo it and make it more interesting.
Each section would get two levels. Each second section would have a boss fight: Big Enforcer, Motorcycle Enforcer, Knife Enforcer, Crime Lord, Mirror Entity.
Section One will be a small town. Tillie's house stands out with a circus and Ferris wheel on the roof. I would like to start with Tillie on the roof. When she spots the enforcers, her eyes bulge out comically before play time.
Section Two will be on the bridge leading to the big city. Tillie drives her comically small clown car over the other vehicles, platforming over them.
Section Three will be in the big city. Tillie makes her way to the Crime Lord's manor. Lots of vertical movement as Tillie climbs up the buildings.
Section Four would be in the Crime Lord's manor. Tillie cannot injure the boss, only push him back. Ends by pushing the Crime Lord into the mirror.
Section Five would be the Mirror-verse. Save the enforcers and crime lord who are stuck here. Face the mirror entity, who is mirroring Tillie. Defeat her with jokes. Roger Rabbit: You're killing them! She's cracking up!
Bonus Minigames
I would like to add a small minigame after each level, initiated if the player finds a hidden item in the level.
I have a few ideas for minigames. Shootout, toss pies at an enemy while avoiding their shots. Trampoline, move the trampoline under Tillie to help her collect all the floating items. Ball roll, Tillie inflates like a balloon and rolls, trying to reach the end within the time limit.
Mirror Gimmicks
I have some ideas, but I was unable to implement them. Basic mechanics come first.
With the screen divided in two, the right side is a copy of the left. Certain platforms and enemies would only be visible on one side or the other, so the player has to watch both screens.
Room is mirrored, so Tillie is walking on the ceiling.
Tillie passes by line of mirrors. Each one she passes by, her reflection stops. At a certain point, the reflections leap out of the mirrors to fight.
Tillie passes by giant mirror. Fight giant mirror Tillie.
